In August 2024, Halotek made the decision to step away from three decades of government-scale security work and found Squares 9 Corporation. The assessment that drove that decision was architectural: the social media industry had a structural gap that incremental changes to existing platforms could not close. The gap was in the foundation. Closing it required building from a different starting point.

Legacy platforms had been engineered for maximum connectivity and continuous data flow, with protection considered after the core architecture was established. That sequencing produced systems where exposure is a structural condition rather than a design failure. Halotek chose the opposite sequence: engineer protection into the structure first, from the initial architectural decisions, then build every other capability on top of that foundation.

The result is Squares 9. It is a security-first, closed-loop social media platform built around contained, member-controlled interaction. All access is defined and deliberate. Interaction takes place within private, invitation-only environments called Squares. Every message, image, and piece of shared content is protected through end-to-end encryption.
