Membership Charter
Summary of the Membership Charter
Data uploaded by members to Squares 9 remains the member’s data, and the member is the sole owner of that data. Squares 9 does not track members, profile members, sell member data, trade member data, or use member data to train artificial intelligence.
Squares 9 is built to keep member information within the spaces members choose. The platform is designed without public discovery, external search visibility, or open access to member spaces, and access is controlled by members.
Artificial intelligence may be used in limited, governed ways to support system performance, platform integrity, operational efficiency, and safety measures. AI is not used to turn member content, messages, activity, or uploaded data into training material.
The Membership Charter
At Squares 9, membership carries meaning. It represents participation in a private digital environment built on trust, clarity, and human dignity. This Charter defines the rights of every member and the standards Squares 9 upholds in service of those rights.
Squares 9 operates on a simple principle. People deserve a place to connect within a controlled environment designed to limit exposure, manipulation, exploitation, and misuse. Every system, policy, and architectural decision is intended to support that principle.
The Foundation of Membership
Membership within Squares 9 is based on intentional connection. Every interaction occurs within defined Squares, where access is granted by invitation and controlled by the member. This structure is designed to support meaningful interaction within trusted spaces rather than broad, uncontrolled visibility.
The platform is built around boundaries. Relationships are chosen. Participation is deliberate, and exposure is limited by design so that members can connect within spaces that reflect trust, context, and control.
Member Rights
Right to Privacy
Every member has the right to communicate and share within a private environment. Personal information, content, and interactions are protected through system design, platform architecture, and governing policy. Privacy is treated as a foundational condition of membership.
Squares 9 does not track, trace, or monitor member behavior in order to build behavioral histories, commercial profiles, or surveillance based records of activity. The platform is designed to avoid observing browsing patterns, interaction habits, or activity flows for monetization or prediction. Member presence is intended to remain within the member experience rather than becoming part of an outside data economy.
Right to Freedom from Data Collection, Sale, and Profiling
Squares 9 does not compile datasets about member habits, preferences, or behavioral patterns for commercial use. The platform is designed to avoid creating individualized behavioral profiles, predictive models, or commercial scoring systems tied to member activity. Personal information is not treated as a product.
Member data is not sold, traded, or used for third party commercial profiling. It is not packaged into a marketplace asset. It is not shared for the purpose of behavioral advertising, surveillance based monetization, or external targeting.
Right to Data Ownership
Members retain ownership of the content they create and share. This includes written content, images, communications, and other materials placed within their Squares. Data uploaded by members to the platform remains the member’s data, and the member is the sole owner of that data.
Ownership remains with the member, subject only to the limited operational uses necessary to provide, secure, maintain, and improve the service as described in Squares 9 governing documents. Data is not repurposed for external commercial exploitation. It is not treated as a transferable corporate asset simply because it exists within the platform.
Right to Freedom from AI Training Use
Member content, messages, interactions, and uploaded data are not used to train artificial intelligence models. Squares 9 does not feed member data into external AI systems or internal AI training systems for the purpose of model learning, behavioral prediction, or future commercial exploitation. This principle is central to the platform’s view of data dignity and member control.
Artificial intelligence may be used in limited and governed ways to support system performance, platform integrity, operational efficiency, and safety measures. Where AI is used, it is intended to operate within internal controls and governance standards aligned with the Universal Digital Rights and AI Ethics Charter. AI is not used to turn member life into training material.
Right to Controlled Access
Members decide who has access to their Squares. Entry is based on invitation, and access can be removed by the member in accordance with platform design and applicable platform rules. Control over access is one of the defining rights of membership.
When access is removed, Squares 9 is designed to enforce that separation within its system architecture. The platform is intended to prevent continued visibility through public search, indirect discovery, or open access features. This approach preserves boundaries and reinforces the closed nature of the environment.
Right to Protection from Exploitation
Squares 9 is structured to avoid business models that rely on extracting value from member behavior, attention, or personal information. The platform is designed to support interaction without turning the member into the product. This distinction is fundamental to the company’s mission and governance posture.
Advertising, where present, operates without behavioral tracking or individual profiling. Member activity is not intended to be used as a mechanism for commercial manipulation. The platform seeks to maintain clear separation between member participation and data driven exploitation.
Right to Security by Design
Security is integrated into the architecture of the platform. Data is protected through system controls, controlled access structures, and technical safeguards intended to reduce the risk of unauthorized access, misuse, and large-scale exposure. Security is approached as a structural commitment rather than a marketing feature.
Squares 9 is designed to reduce vulnerability through limited exposure, controlled environments, and restrained data practices. While any digital system must remain attentive to evolving threats, the platform is built with the objective of reducing risk at the architectural level. This commitment supports the broader rights described in this Charter.
Right to a Defined Environment
Squares 9 operates as a closed-loop system. Members interact within environments that are intentionally limited, clearly defined, and centered on chosen relationships. The platform is designed without public discovery, external searchability, or open access to member spaces.
This structure matters because context matters. Information that remains inside a defined environment is less likely to be scraped, aggregated, misread, or weaponized outside its intended setting. Squares 9 is built to preserve that context and to reduce exposure beyond it.
Member Responsibilities
Membership carries responsibility. The value of a private environment depends on the conduct of the people within it. Every member shares in the responsibility to preserve the integrity of the platform and the experience of others.
Members will not use Squares 9 to engage in illegal activities. All participation on the platform must align with applicable law and with platform rules established to protect the company, its members, and the integrity of the environment. Illegal conduct, unlawful coordination, and the misuse of private digital space for unlawful ends are inconsistent with membership.
Members will not engage in behavior that harms, threatens, exploits, deceives, or intimidates other members. This includes harassment, stalking, impersonation, fraud, coercion, abuse, and the misuse of another person’s information or trust. A private platform must remain worthy of the privacy it provides, and member conduct is part of that standard.
Members will respect the privacy and boundaries of others within their Squares. Information shared within a Square is expected to remain within that context unless the person who shared it clearly authorizes broader disclosure or unless disclosure is otherwise required by law. Members are responsible for treating the private environment of others with seriousness and care.
Members will not attempt to bypass, disrupt, probe, undermine, or interfere with platform security, access controls, account protections, or system integrity. They will not attempt to gain unauthorized access to member spaces, member information, administrative tools, or protected systems. Efforts to compromise the platform are inconsistent with membership and with the rights this Charter is designed to protect.
Members will participate in good faith. They will represent themselves honestly within the rules and structures of the platform and contribute to an environment rooted in respect, accountability, and trust. Membership is participation in a defined digital community and carries responsibilities that support the rights of others.
Platform Commitment
Squares 9 is committed to upholding this Charter through both policy and system design. The platform is engineered to support these principles at a structural level rather than relying solely on after the fact enforcement. This commitment reflects the belief that rights are strongest when they are reinforced by architecture, governance, and operational discipline.
Governing documents, including the Universal Digital Rights and AI Ethics Charter, Privacy Policy, Terms and Conditions, and related platform policies, provide additional legal and operational structure to these commitments. In the event of a conflict between this Charter and a controlling legal agreement, the controlling legal agreement will govern. This Charter is intended to define the member standard and the values guiding platform operation.
A Different Standard
This Charter reflects a different approach to digital social life. It is grounded in restraint, clarity, privacy, and respect for the individual. It rejects the idea that participation in online life should require exposure, surveillance, profiling, or commercial extraction.
Squares 9 is designed to provide a controlled environment where people can connect within defined boundaries and with greater confidence in how their information is treated. Membership is centered on trust, access control, privacy, and the ability to participate within a system built to limit exposure and preserve dignity. That is the standard this Charter is intended to establish.
